Wildlife along Icefields Parkway

Our recent road trip was fantastic. After our quick stops in Banff and Lake Louise, we headed to Jasper. The 230-kilometer Icefields Parkway winds its way through two national parks, between Banff and Jasper National Parks as it parallels the Great or Continental Divide.

Icefields Parkway – a scenic drive, is also known as Alberta’s Highway 93 North. The Canadian Rockies is home to different species of wildlife – elk, deer, moose, caribou, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, bears, coyotes, wolves, beavers,  pine martens, lynx,  porcupines, cougars, and wolverines.

A Canadian national parks permit is required to travel on this. It is illegal and dangerous to approach, touch or feed wildlife in a National Park.

  1. These photos have brought me precious memories. When I was living in Edmonton I travelled all the way to Vancouver Island, I saw all these animals on the way, the beautiful lakes and mountains. To close my trip I went to whale watch in Victoria. It was a show, they came so close to our boat. We can have many adventures in Canada West Coast. I took many photos all of them film, that time digital cameras and iPhone were not around, it will be a pain to share them in the blog.

    • Hi Elizabeth! Thanks for the visit. We love the West Edmonton Mall.

I’m in love with Alberta. The views are breathtaking and the national parks are inviting, all year round. We’ve been to Vancouver and Kelowna on a road trip last year. They say Victoria is beautiful, especially the Butchart Gardens. Next time, I’ll see to it to explore the island. I agree with you, those days we carry films and batteries without chargers when we travel. And sometimes, films get exposed to light. 😀

Happy Canada Day in advance! 🙂 🍁
